Pleural Mesothelioma Symptoms
Understanding the Symptoms of Mesothelioma
Pleural mesothelioma affects the lining of the chest. Symptoms of pleural mesothelioma may include:
- Shortness of breath
- Difficulty swallowing
- Coughing
- Sweating
- Fever
- Weight loss
- Fatigue
- Swelling in the upper body, especially the face and arms
- Lower back pain
- Pain in the side of the chest
- Muscle weakness
The early signs of mesothelioma are often similar to pneumonia with symptoms including coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, and a buildup of fluid. The right lung is the most commonly affected, occurring around 60%, while symptoms in both lungs are rare at 5% of the time. Mesothelioma symptoms are not limited to the above.
