Peritoneal Mesothelioma Symptoms
Understanding the Symptoms of Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma affecting the abdominal cavity lining is known as peritoneal mesothelioma. Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include:
- Stomach pain
- Weight loss
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Swollen belly
- Bowel obstruction
- Anemia
- Fever
- Blood clotting abnormalities
The early signs of mesothelioma are often similar to pneumonia with symptoms including chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath and a buildup of fluid (shown by a chest x-ray). The most commonly affected lung is the right, occurring approximately 60% of the time, while symptoms in both lungs are rare, occurring 5% of the time. Mesothelioma symptoms are not limited to the above list.
