    Dr. Smythe is the Associate Professor and Director of the Mesothelioma Multidisciplinary Treatment and Research Program at the University of TX MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has designed a pilot protocol at MD Anderson for malignant pleural mesothelioma involving aggressive surgical therapy followed by intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). His research interests include prodrug gene therapy, apoptosis, mesothelioma, and lung neoplasms.
