He also serves as the John Rhea Barton Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery as well as the Eldridge L. Eliason Professor of Surgery and Chief of Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His areas of interest include malignant mesothelioma and mediastinal tumors.
